The Hydrodynamic Planing Hull
In the late 1940's a radical dude by the name of Bob Simmons put together hydrodynamic theories with composite lamination construction and came up with a lightweight displacement style of board way ahead of his time. Recently re-discovered by these style of boards pick up waves easy, have speed to burn and tailslide like nothing. Shortened versions of these hulls, called Mini Simmons, are gaining in popularity as an alternate form of fish. Wide tails, straight rails, displacement hulls and concave tails, twin finned and high volume... they're alternative, but good.
